Javier Tovar | Assistant Coach

Coach Tovar has been the assistant coach under Coach Dame at Texas A&M San Antonio since the inception of the program. Tovar guides the infield and hitting for the program.

Coach Tovar comes to Texas A&M San Antonio with over 20 years of travel ball coaching and recruiting experience at the highest level. Over this time, he helped well over 100 young lady athletes achieve their dream of playing college softball from NCAA/NAIA/ and JUCO. During his long tenure with the nationally recognized Bomber Softball program, he helped build the South Texas travel club into a national contender. Between 2018 and 2019, he coached teams that placed top 10 in USA/ASA Gold Nationals. His college career started in 2020 as the assistant for Coastal Bend College under the direction of Head Coach Angel Castro, where he focused on the infielders and hitters for the program.

Tovar brings with him leadership and passion to the game. His extensive knowledge of softball and his dynamic recruiting efforts has led to many All-Americans on and off the field.

Coach Tovar was born and raised in Mcqueeney, Texas. He currently resides in New Braunfels, Texas with his wife of 29 years... Michelle. He has two daughters and a granddaughter.
